Upcoming Events:

VCC – August 25 Conference: 8 a.m.- 4:30 p.m. General session, lunch, and workshops. Celebration Dinner and Awards: 5-7 p.m.The Volunteer Conference and Celebration is rapidly approaching and we have been working hard to get us ready for an amazing day. Come out and join us at the San Diego Convention Center along with hundreds of adult Girl Scout members for an exciting, volunteer-centred gathering. Connect and share throughout the day, and honor our volunteer awardees in the evening dinner event. Choose from over 60 learning sessions, visit more than 30 exhibitor tables, get a sneak peek at the 2019 cookie rewards, and snag special deals from the Girl Scout store. This year our SU will be receiving The President’s Award.  The President’s award recognizes the efforts demonstrated by an entire SU to enhance Girl Scouting in its community The criteria includes meeting administrative goals (90% of troops turning in their financial reports on time!), membership, SHARE, Girl Programing and Adult Learning Goals. Simple Meals Badge September 15, 9:30 am to 12:30 pm The Elks Lodge – Outdoor Area. Learn kitchen skills, using a camp stove, and earning the Simple Meals Badge!. Cost $16 per Junior Girl Scout. The

Fall product program starts Monday, Sept. 24! Stacy Becerra will be conducting Troop Fall Product Volunteer Training the last week of August and first two weeks in Sept. If you have a new Fall product volunteer in your troop or if you are a new troop, please contact Stacy sabecerra1@gmail.com or nuts@gssunnytrails.com (619) 370-9026. Please make sure that your roster is current with updated with TMC’s, emails and phone numbers.

Outdoor Skills – Oct 5-7 Camps Winacka & Whispering Oaks. Consuelo

Camp Surf – Fri October 12 – Sun October 14. $130/participant. YMCA Camp Surf in Imperial Beach. Juniors & up. Includes modern accommodations, meals, and fun activities: surfing, bodyboarding, wall climbing, archery, arts & crafts, skit night, campfire, S’mores, beach volleyball, gaga ball, swaps trading time. Halloween Dance- Saturday Oct 20 at the Elks Lodge at 6:00 pm. Troop 5137 Claudia Silva. Mark your calendars. The cost is $25/couple, and includes pizza and treats. There will be a photo backdrop for fun picture opportunities, fun treats and some fun prizes from a random drawing.

Let’s Camp Training: Thursday, October 26 from 6:00 – 8:30 p.m. at the Elks Lodge. The cost is $5. We are excited to announce that our Service Unit will be hosting this training.

Marilou Thomas, Treasurer– Thank you to all troop volunteers that submitted Financial Reports on time!  Financials are currently being reviewed. If you’ve received an email from Marilou regarding finances, please reply to her in a timely manner so that we can meet Council deadlines.  

Membership Renewal – Don’t forget to renew your membership by September 30, 2018. The Girl Scouts 2019 membership year begins October 1. Registration is easy: Go to the GS website (www.sdgirlscouts.org) and access the Volunteer Toolkit (My GS/VTK tab) to renew membership for girls and parent volunteers. Call Girl Scouts Customer Care at (619) 610-0821 for support.

Girl Health History and Annual Permission:  Remember to update your troops Health History and Annual Permission sheets. Forms can found in the Volunteer Toolkit under the Resources Tab.

Service Project Opportunity: Beautify Chula Vista is October 20th at 8:30 AM in the Terra Nova/Captain’s Ridge area near Clear View Elementary.    Looking for troops to help with a clean up and planting project. If interested, contact Marianne Gibson email marianne.gibson1@gmail.com

SU Membership Recruitment: Direct, promote, and organize recruitment of new girls and adults to join the Girl Scouts by supporting a team of membership recruiters in our community.

Fall Product Manager (Trainee) SU is looking for a volunteer to train this year and take over Fall Product Sales for next year.  

SU SHARE Coordinator: Builds awareness and support for the Share Her Annual Real Expense program which helps keep Girl Scouting available and affordable for all.
