Goin’ Green: Monday Sept 24, 6:30pm – 7:30pm. Free event at the GS Balboa Campus. Build connections and enjoy light refreshments, resources & swag bags for new leaders and registered volunteers.
Outdoor Skills: Fri Oct 5 – Sun 7, Camps Winacka & Whispering Oaks. (Consuelo Quintanar)
Zoo Tours: Sun Oct 7. 10am & 12:30pm. This one-hour tour will provide a zoo volunteer’s look at topics such as animal adaptations, habitats, conservation, and the zoo enrichment animal program. $10/girl including patch. $5 adults & siblings. Zoo admission not included. October is Kids Free Month so check zoo website for adult pricing (Troop 6388 – contact Rhonda at rhondauran@gmail.com to register)
Camp Surf: Fri Oct 12 – Sun Oct 14. $130/participant. YMCA Camp Surf in Imperial Beach. Includes modern accommodations, meals, and fun activities: surfing, bodyboarding, wall climbing, archery, arts & crafts, skit night, campfire, S’mores, beach volleyball, gaga ball, swaps trading time. Halloween Dance: Sunday Oct 21 at the Elks Lodge. Hosted by Troop 5137 Claudia Silva. The cost is $25/couple, and includes pizza and treats. There will be a photo backdrop for fun picture opportunities, fun treats and some fun prizes from a random drawing.
Let’s Camp Training: Thursday Oct 25, 6pm – 8:30pm, Wolf Canyon Elementary School. Register at www.sdgirlscouts.org. The cost is $5.

Troop Mentorship – We have Sunnytrails troops looking for a troop mentor. The troop mentor welcomes a new leader and introduces them to Girl Scout resources, including the service unit team, service unit meetings, troop support and training. If you are an interested leader, please contact the adult learning department via email (training@sdgirlscouts.org) or our customer care department at (619) 610-0821.
Membership Renewal – Don’t forget to renew your membership by September 30, 2018. The Girl Scouts 2019 membership year begins October 1. Registration is easy: Go to the GS website (www.sdgirlscouts.org) and access the Volunteer Toolkit (My GS/VTK tab). Call Girl Scouts Customer Care at (619) 610-0821 for support.
Girl Health History and Annual Permission: Remember to update your troops Health History and Annual Permission forms. Forms can found in the Volunteer Toolkit under the Resources Tab.
Leadership Team Vacancies
Recognitions: Promotes and organizes recognition for service unit volunteers and members of the community, including the Volunteer Appreciation Dinner; processes applications for GSUSA, council awards, service unit awards and earned recognitions.
Community Partners Fair: Organize a fair for our partners to come and share the opportunities they offer for Girl Scouts with our service unit.
SU Membership Recruitment: Directs, promotes, and organizes recruitment of new girls and adults to join the Girl Scouts by supporting a team of membership recruiters in our community.
Fall Product Manager (Trainee) SU is looking for a volunteer to train this year and take over Fall Product Sales for next year.
SU SHARE Coordinator: Builds awareness and support for the Share Her Annual Real Expense program which helps keep Girl Scouting available and affordable for all.
