Even sitcoms designed for girls tend to be exaggerated or sensationalized.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">How do these Images affect your feelings and your behavior, or your friends?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Do they make you want to be Impossibly thin, too?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Or do they make you hungry for a cheeseburger?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Do the girls In your favorite show always wear extra-skinny Jeans?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Have you noticed how many TV characters are Impossibly thin, Impossibly rich or Impossibly self-confident?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Identify some things about the media that bother you really bother you. Sexism? Violence? Stereotypes? Look closely at an hour of TV programming, or flip through a fashion magazine or your local newspaper. Take note of all the billboards you see on your way to school. Or surf the Internet for ideas. What do you notice that gets you fired up? That&#8217;s the desire to create change!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\"><strong>Community Media Survey:<\/strong>\u00a0<br>Create a survey to give to your\u00a0 friends, family, teachers, neighbors etc. A community survey can bring to light people\u2019s experiences with media and their opinions about it. A survey can show what they think about media, what they think should be changed or improved about it, and what they think is missing from it. The information you gather in this survey will be useful for choosing exactly what you want to do for your Media Remake project when you earn the Influence Award. You can create your survey with google forms: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/forms\/about\/\">https:\/\/www.google.com\/forms\/about\/<\/a> or just write it out by hand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Brainstorm 5 questions focused on *needs the community may have that are currently unmet by media *issues in the community that media may contribute to *aspects of media the community and you may want to see changed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Add your 5 questions to your survey and pass your survey out to several people in your family, girl scout troop or your neighborhood or school.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Summarize your findings in the comments.
